Plant extracts in Weight Control New Formula
The plant extracts contained in each Weight Control New Formula capsule are recognized as helping keep body weight under control and lose body fat.
A major role is played by the root extract Coleus forskohli, an evergreen herb belonging to the Lamiaceae family, a family which also includes many aromatic herbs such as mint, basil and rosemary. The most important active substance in Coleus forskohlii is forskolin. The main action of forskolin is the activation of adenylate cyclase, an enzyme contained in many cells of the human body and particularly abundant in adipocytes, the cells of adipose tissue used to reserve triglycerides (fats). The activation of adenylate cyclase has as its final effect an increase within the cell of a molecule called cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). ‘cAMP’ is a compound that, once generated inside the cell, can modify the cellular metabolism by activating an enzyme called lipase (that degrades the lipids). Lipases are the enzymes that allow the detachment of fatty acids from triglycerides (lipolysis), making them available to be used as sources of energy. Several studies have shown the effectiveness of Coleus forskohlii in the decrease of body mass and in particular of fatty tissue through this mechanism known and studied for many years, with no side effects (Kamohara, Pers. Med. Univ., 2016).
For example, a 2005 study by the University of Kansas observed the effects of forskolin in a group of 30 overweight men. One group administered Coleus forskohlii extract for 12 weeks, taking no more than 50 mg of forskolin daily, while a second group received a placebo. At the end of the period of administration, the group that received Coleus forskohlii showed a significant reduction in body fat: 11% (mean loss of 4.5 kg) and an increase in lean mass of 5.6% (average increase equal to 3.7 kg). In the group that administered placebo, the measured parameters remained unchanged (Godard et al, Obes. Res., 2005).
To synergize with the effect of forskolin, it also contains caffeine. As is widely known, caffeine inhibits phosphodiesterases, enzymes that degrade cAMP formed by forskolin, thus extending the effect of cAMP inside the cell over time. Forskolin and caffeine have an important synergistic action on adipocytes, with the final effect of releasing fatty acids in the bloodstream.
In Weight Control New Formula there is also Sinetrol®. Sinetrol® is a patented formula of dry extracts of orange (Citrus sinensis), grapefruit (Citrus paradisi), and guaranà (Paullinia cupana), resulting in a highly concentrated mix of bioactive polyphenols (particularly abundant are naringin and neohesperidin) with lipolytic characteristics.
Theses nutrients operate at the level of fat cells (adipocytes), by stimulating up to 6 times the lipolysis (Fat Shredding Technologies™) and therefore the release of fatty acids by these cells (Dallas et al., Phytomedicine, 2008).
Weight Control New Formula also contains Gymnema sylvestre. The gimnemic acid present in this plant blocks the intestinal glucose receptor, helping to reduce the absorption of sugars.
Finally, the presence of Ananas comosus and Equisetum arvense helps to counteract water retention, with a draining effect.
